Spiritual Warfare

In order to effectively live the victorious Christian life, it is imperative that every Believer understand their place in the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul encourages young Timothy in the Book of 2 Timothy 2:2-4, "...And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer." (NIV) We are called to endure as a good soldier. Amen! Most believers had not even received the memo that we were drafted in an army! Do you know that like every physical war that has casualties, so does spiritual warfare? We must know our weaponry (equipment that we fight with), understand who we report to, learn God's military tactics to fight the spiritual battle. God is a "Man of War"-Exodus 15:1-3 “I will sing to the Lord, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The Lord is a Man of War; The Lord is His name.

God trains us in warfare- Judges 3:1-2

God equips us in warfare-2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 6:11

God empowers us for war-Ref: Ps. 27:1B-He will not let us go into battle without empowering us for war-Luke 24:49. God's name is Jehovah Saboath-Hebrew for the Lord of Hosts of Armies. (He anoints men & weapons of war

Reference #1: 1 Kings 19:15-17-15 Then the Lord said to him: “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. 16 Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. 17 It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill." These 3 men were anointed to rule, prophesy, and kill.

Reference # 2: Is. 21:5 "Prepare the table, set a watchman in the tower, Eat and drink. Arise, you princes, Anoint the shield!-God anointed the shield as well.”

He takes over command in fierce battles-Josh 5:13-14- 13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?” 14 So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?" Joshua immediately submitted himself to the great Man of War.

Reference #1: The Lord is released to fight for us when we are completely surrendered and submitted to Him. James 4: 6-7 " 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”[a] 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

God is a military tactician-He knows when to give command for His army to go into full scale combat and when to withdraw. He lays ambush and uses the seas to entrap His enemies. EX: Exodus 7:1, 3-4.

He wanted to cut off Pharaoh's magicians, divining powers and sorcery so He used Moses to dispossess their staff EX: Exodus 7:8-9

Christianity is about spiritual warfare-the devil originally deceived Adam to gain ownership of the earth. The only we way we can reclaim the earth and liberate the captives is through fierce warfare. (Matt 10:34) Possessing our promised land involves fighting the existing giants in the land, and driving them out.

God can easily destroy our giants however He prefers that we do the evicting through His leading. Jn16:33-God has overcome the world.

To be able to fight you must be spiritually alive (Jn 3: 6) Ye must be born again (Jn 4:24) If you are unsure about this stop and ask Jesus to come into your life: Rom 8:5,8, Romans 8;11
